The Philippine Tourism Authority (PTrA) was created on May 11, 1973 under Presidential Decree No. 189 which was amended on Oct 2, 1974 under Presidential Decree No. 564 to promote tourism by implementing the policies and programs of the Department of Tourism pertaining to the development, promotion and supervision of all tourism development projects in the country.
