How To Get Student Permit License

WHAT IS STUDENT PERMIT LICENSE?
Student Permit is one of the licenses issued by Land Transportation Office. It is valid only for 1 year and a prerequisite for applying for New Professional or Non-Professional Driver License.

How To Get Student Permit License

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.    Must be at least sixteen (16) years old.
2.    Must be physically and mentally fit to operate a motor vehicle.
3.    Must be able to read and write the local dialect, Filipino or English.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Original and photocopy of birth certificate.
      In the absence thereof, any of the following:
a.    Joint affidavit of two (2) disinterested person who know the applicant and who can attest to his/her age and identify accompanied by non-availability of record from NSO or local registry office.
b.    Any legal document to prove his age and identity such as GSIS, SSS, Passport or any government issued identification card.

2. For applicants below 18 years old, require parents or guardian’s written consent must be 
     duly notarized.

3.    Taxpayer’s identification Number (TIN), if employed.

4.    Duly accomplished Application for Driver’s License (ADL). See the picture below on how to      fill-up the form.

STANDARD PROCESSING TIME: 30 Minutes


STEPS:
1.    Once arrive at any LTO Licensing Office, receive queue number and secure application 
     form issued by Costumer Service Representative.

2.    Wait for your number to be called and submit the requirements to the evaluator. The        
     Evaluator will receive and reviews ADL form and submitted required documents for 
     completeness and authenticity.

3.    Wait for your number or name to be called for picture taking and capturing of signature. 
     Proceed to the area and the clerk will assist you.

4.    Approving officer review and approve the transaction and wait for your name to be called at 
     the cashier’s counter.

5.    Accept the Official Receipt (OR) and Student permit release by the Releasing Officer.



TIPS:
1    1. Avoid fixers, you may pay for additional money for their services and it is against the law. 
          The steps are easy to follow and LTO Costumer Services Representative is available for      
           you queries. If you are a first timer and unsure of the LTO proceeding, you can ask for your 
           relatives or friends to accompany you.

2.    It is better to complete the required requirements before going to LTO for application.

3.    To acquire the standard processing time, client should go early to avoid crowded 
           environment and get better services.

4.    Student permit is a requirement in getting Professional and Non-Professional Driver 
           License. For non-professional driver license application, at least 1 month old and for 
           professional driver license at least 5 months old. Student permit is valid only for 1 year.

5.    Official Receipt should be kept along with your student permit because it is also a 
           requirement for getting new professional or non-professional driver license.
